Once you’ve obtained the quest, launch the dungeon from the H.E.L.M. interface in the Director. Keep in mind that the recommended Power level for the dungeon is 1790, with the Master version requiring a Power level of 1840.

Encounter 1: Disrupt the Hive Ritual

In this first encounter, you’ll need to break the Hive’s sinister ritual by imbuing statues with the Vestige of Light. Follow these steps to successfully disrupt the ritual:

1. Eliminate the two Hive Knights guarding the door.
2. Defeat the Soulfire Binder Ogre to reveal a path marked by green energy.
3. Follow the path to locate a floating Hive rune, noting its symbol.
4. Continue following the path, eliminating Soulfire Binders and locating two more runes.
5. Defeat the Lightbearer at the third rune, crushing its ghost to obtain the Vestige of Light buff.
6. Return to the ritual site and eliminate the Veilweaver Wizard to spawn a Deepsight Orb.
7. Collect Deepsight to reveal hidden statues with corresponding Hive symbols.
8. Deposit the Vestige of Light into the matching statue and repeat this process three more times.

Be prepared for intense add-clearing and boss damage throughout this encounter. Risk Runner, linear fusion rifles like Taipan-4FR, and healing rifts from a Warlock are recommended strategies for this section.

Hidden Chests and Secrets

1. Hidden Chest #1: Found during the first underwater platforming section, in the first Hive cave. Hug the left wall until it ends, climb up the ledge on your right, and follow the path to the chest.
2. Hidden Chest #2: Located just before the final boss encounter, in a spacious room within the Dreadnaught. Defeat the Ogre that spawns near a gazebo, then climb the gazebo to find the chest.

Encounter 2: Defeat Ecthar, the Shield of Savathun

The second encounter requires you to vanquish Ecthar, a formidable Knight boss with a powerful shield. Utilize the following strategies to emerge victorious:

1. Defeat the praying Acolytes to spawn Ecthar and his minions.
2. Eliminate three Blistered Knights to spawn a Keeper of the Deep Ogre.
3. Kill the Ogre to obtain a Deepsight Orb, which reveals three symbols on the walls.
4. Dive underwater and activate the matching runes, avoiding the pursuing boss.
5. Return to the surface and defeat the spawning Lucent Hive enemies.
6. Destroy the ghosts of the defeated enemies to obtain Vestige of Light.
7. Imbue the Hive statues with the Vestige of Light, repeating this process twice.
8. Eliminate the Wellkeeper Knight, stand in the pool it creates, and damage Ecthar’s shield.
9. Continue damaging Ecthar until he is defeated.

For this encounter, prioritize survivability and close-range DPS. A Well of Radiance, Lament, and Legend of Acrius are all excellent choices.

Navigating the Depths

Progress through the dungeon by diving deeper into the underwater world of the Arcology. Traverse the ocean floor, explore pressurized caves filled with Hive, and navigate the underwater platforming sections to reach the final boss encounter.

Encounter 3: Vanquish Simmumah ur-Nokru, Lucent Hive

The final encounter pits you against Simmumah ur-Nokru, a formidable Hive Wizard attempting to resurrect Oryx, the Taken King. To defeat this powerful foe, follow these steps:

1. Crush the Hive Ghost to initiate the encounter and spawn the Deepsight Orb.
2. Use Deepsight to reveal three connected orbs above Oryx’s body.
3. Stand near the highlighted orbs and defeat Vorlog to reveal a Hive rune.
4. Repeat for all three orbs, then enter the underwater chambers to defeat Lightbearers.
5. Obtain Vestige of Light and deposit it into the corresponding statue in the main room.
6. Complete this process for all three statues to begin the DPS phase.
7. Damage Simmumah’s shield and health until she is defeated.

For this encounter, bring long-range sustained DPS weapons such as linear fusion rifles or Leviathan’s Breath. Focus on add-clearing and maintaining Deepsight throughout the fight.

Master Difficulty and Artifice Armor

Master difficulty in Ghosts of the Deep features additional challenges, including locked player Power at 1820, Artifice armor drops only from boss encounters, and the addition of Unstoppable Ogres and Barrier Knights.
