Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 has brought heist-style gameplay to a whole new level, and one of the most rewarding challenges is raiding the Train Vault. Unlike standard vaults that are fixed in place, the Train Vault moves across the island, making it one of the most dynamic loot spots in the game.

Cracking open the Train Vault rewards players with Dill Bits, which can be exchanged for Mythic weapons at Black Markets, along with Rare Chests and stacks of Gold Bars. However, breaking in requires careful planning—players will need to board the train, take out its defenses, and break the vault door open with Thermite.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get on the train, breach the Train Vault, and secure all the loot before your enemies do.

How to Get on the Train in Fortnite

The train constantly moves around the Battle Royale island, making timing and positioning critical if you want to board successfully. There are a few ways to hop on:

Best Ways to Board the Train

🚂 Land Nearby at the Start of the Match

• If you’re committed to looting the Train Vault, the best strategy is to drop near its path at the beginning of the match.
• Quickly loot a nearby landmark for weapons, then wait for the train to pass before jumping on.

🚗 Chase It Down in a Vehicle

• If you miss your chance to board early, grab a fast car and drive alongside the train.
• Jump out and mantle onto one of the train cars as it slows down near terrain changes.

🏗️ Drop from a High Ground Position

• If you find yourself near a tall hill, tower, or building, use glider redeploy or a launch pad to jump directly onto the train.

What’s on Each Train Car?

The train consists of five different cars, and knowing what’s on each can help you plan your approach:

• Car #1 – Empty (Safe)
• Car #2 – Turret (Dangerous)
• Car #3 – Vault Door (Safe)
• Car #4 – Turret (Dangerous)
• Car #5 – Empty (Safe)

If possible, land on Cars #1 or #5 to avoid immediate turret fire.

How to Open the Train Vault in Fortnite

The Train Vault is located on Car #3, but you’ll need to use Thermite twice to break in. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Collect Thermite

• Thermite can be found as floor loot, inside Chests, or at Black Markets.
• Destroying the turrets on the train also drops Thermite, making it easy to get what you need while raiding.
• You’ll need two Thermites to break open the vault.

Step 2: Disable the Train’s Defenses

• The train has two turrets on Car #2 and Car #4, which will automatically fire at any nearby players.
• Use an SMG or Assault Rifle to take out the turrets before attempting to break into the vault.
• Destroying turrets also gives you additional Thermite, so this step is essential.

Step 3: Plant Thermite on the Vault Door

• Approach Car #3 and place your first Thermite on the vault door.
• Wait a few seconds for it to explode. The door won’t open yet!
• Place a second Thermite immediately after the first explosion.

Step 4: Enter the Train Vault & Eliminate Guards

• After the second Thermite explosion, the vault door will open, granting access to the loot inside.
• Be ready! Hostile NPC guards will spawn inside and attack as soon as the vault opens.
• Eliminate them quickly to avoid unnecessary damage and secure the loot.

What’s Inside the Train Vault?

Once inside, you’ll find some of the best loot in the game, including:

✅ 2 Dill Bits – Used at Black Markets to purchase Mythic weapons
✅ 3 Standard Chests – Containing ammo, shields, and weapons
✅ 3 Rare Chests – Higher chance of Epic & Legendary weapons
✅ Stacks of Gold Bars – Useful for buying Boon perks or Exotic weapons
