🗝 What Is Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode?

Ultimate Vault Hunter (UVH) is Borderlands 4’s endgame difficulty system. Once unlocked, you can push through five ranks of escalating challenge. Each rank makes enemies stronger, more aggressive, and more numerous—but in return, loot quality, XP gains, and currency rewards scale dramatically.

🔓 Unlocking UVH Rank 1

After finishing the main campaign, you’ll need to complete several post-story missions and activities to unlock UVH Rank 1. These include:

• An introduction to the Firmware system

• Accessing Maurice’s Black Market

• Unlocking Moxxi’s Big Encore (boss replays)

• Completing your first Wildcard Mission

Once done, UVH Rank 1 becomes available from the game menu.

⚔️ Progressing to Higher Ranks

Each new rank (2 through 5) requires you to prove yourself in the previous rank:

• Defeat Bosses: Each rank sets a list of bosses or encounters you must clear.

• Wildcard Missions: These special, challenging missions act as keys to the next rank.

• Scaling Challenge: The further you go, the tougher enemies hit, requiring refined builds and strong gear.

For example:

• To unlock Rank 2, you must beat certain bosses and finish the UVH 1 Wildcard Mission.

• To unlock Rank 3–4, repeat the process at those difficulties with their own boss lists and Wildcard Missions.

• Finally, to unlock UVH Rank 5, you must clear the UVH 4 boss requirements and complete its associated Wildcard Mission.
