Vend of the Line is a side mission in Borderlands 4. During it, you follow clues from broken or malfunctioning vending machines, solve codes, deal with enemies, and eventually unlock a Legendary vending machine. If you do the final steps in a special way, you can earn the missable All Things Vend trophy.

🧩 Step-by-Step Puzzle / Clue Walkthrough

1. Start Mission

   • Accept the mission from the quest giver.

   • Talk to certain NPCs to get the mission rolling.

2. Inspect First Vending Machine

   • Look at the back of one vending machine near the mission start. The rarity icons (colors) show the first “sell” order: you need to sell two “green” items, then two “blue” items.

3. Clue 1 – Fix Power & Code Input

   • Find the first broken vending machine geographically via the map.

   • Fix the power issue (flip a switch or perform another simple interaction).

   • Inspect the back of the machine to get a code and then use the machine: Sell Green → Purple → Blue → Green. Use the buy-back if necessary.

4. Clue 2 – Arrows & Code Through Machine

   • Move to the next clue location: a fallen machine and arrows on it. Follow the arrows and climb up to view code off the back of a machine.

   • Observe and use the corresponding input order (based on colored icons), then the machine auto-activates or an NPC helps input code.

5. Clue 3 – Activate Defense / Hit Machine

   • Go to a third machine. Interact, possibly hit or melee-attack the machine or nearby NPC to trigger defense.

   • Inspect the back of that machine, note its icons, and then perform Sell Green → Purple → Blue → Purple.

6. Find The Legendary Vending Machine

   • Using all those partial codes / coordinates gathered, travel to the indicated location.

   • Clear enemies in the area (sometimes a “boss” encounter with the legendary vending machine).

7. Final Special Code for Trophy

   • After defeating “Vend Zane” (the final enemy vending machine monster), you’ll face the legendary vending machine.

   • Important: to get the All Things Vend trophy, do not simply buy a legendary weapon immediately. Instead:

     • Sell three green (uncommon) items to the legendary vending machine first.

     • Then buy one legendary item.

   • If you do that exact sell-sell-sell → buy (legendary) sequence, you’ll unlock the trophy. Then pick up the special item (a “Picture” or similar mission reward) that drops in front of the machine.

⚠ Things That Can Cause the Trophy to Be Missed

• Buying a legendary item without first selling three green items will lock out the trophy.

• Moving past the final interaction / leaving the area without picking up the “Picture” will also prevent completion.

• Make sure you have enough green/uncommon items in inventory; if you don’t, you may need to farm them or use your bank/lost-items.

• Move carefully through the clue locations in order so you don’t miss any codes.
