ARC Raiders: Tracking Down and Breaking a Bastion (Complete 2025 Guide)

Bastions are among the most intimidating heavy ARC units you’ll encounter topside. Their armored frames, sweeping machine-gun fire, and wide patrol routes make them a serious threat for solo and squad Raiders alike. Yet despite their rugged design, Bastions have a predictable structure, clear weak points, and exploitable attack patterns. Once you understand how they move—and how to safely approach them—you can farm Bastion Cells consistently to upgrade your Gear Station.

This guide walks you through where to find Bastions, the ideal loadout, and how to dismantle them efficiently without wasting ammo or risking unnecessary deaths.

Where Bastions Spawn in ARC Raiders

How to get bastion cells in ARC Raiders

While Bastions can appear across multiple topside regions, certain areas offer far more consistent encounters. The two best-known locations to hunt them are:

    1. The Blue Gate (Recommended for First Attempts)

Blue Gate provides wide sightlines, manageable AI density, and fewer PvP interruptions. Bastions here frequently appear:

    • Near the Outer Gates checkpoint

    • Under the Headhouse dome

These enclosed yet spacious areas allow plenty of cover, essential for surviving the Bastion’s opening volleys.

    2. Stella Montis

This region also hosts Bastions, but the high player activity—especially PvP squads roaming for loot—makes engagements significantly riskier. Newer players or solo Raiders should avoid learning Bastion mechanics here.

If your goal is pure efficiency and farming Bastion Cells, stick to Blue Gate.

    Best Loadout for Fighting Bastions

Bastions have reinforced armor plates protecting everything except their mechanical joints and internal power core. The quicker you strip away those layers, the faster the fight ends.

    Recommended Primary Weapon: Hullcracker

If you have access to the Hullcracker, this weapon dramatically speeds up the encounter thanks to its high-impact, anti-armor payload.

    • Purchase from Tian Wen (30,000 coins)

    • Or craft it via the blueprint unlocked after The Major’s Footlocker quest

    • Carry two stacks of Launcher Ammo for safety

The Hullcracker’s explosive force is ideal for breaking the Bastion’s leg joints, which is the most crucial step in the takedown.

    Alternative Option: Upgraded Ferro

An upgraded Ferro can get the job done if you don’t have a Hullcracker yet, but expect a significantly longer fight. Its sustained fire eventually cracks the joints, though it’s less ammo-efficient.

    Additional Supplies

    • Healing items (Bastions punish mistakes hard)

    • A reliable PvP weapon in case hostile Raiders show up mid-fight

    • Explosives for clearing small ARC units that might interfere

How to Defeat a Bastion Safely

Even though Bastions look overwhelming, the fight becomes highly manageable with proper positioning and understanding of its behavior.

    1. Establish Safe Cover First

Before engaging, locate an indoor hallway or a narrow structure leading out into the Bastion’s patrol zone. This serves several purposes:

    • Provides emergency healing space

    • Breaks line of sight from the machine gun

    • Funnels the Bastion into a predictable angle

    • Prevents you from being surrounded by additional ARC units

Standing in the open invites instant death. Always fight from safety first.

    2. Pull the Bastion Toward Your Position

Fire a single shot from long range to draw its attention. Once it begins moving toward you, return to your chosen cover point.

Let the Bastion walk into your firing lane—never chase it into open areas.

    3. Aim for the Yellow Leg Joints

Bastions have four yellow hydraulic joints, one on each leg. These are the first weak points you must target.

    Using your Hullcracker:

    1. Fire directly at a single joint until it fractures

    2. Continue firing until the Bastion collapses onto its supports

    3. This immobilization exposes its core for a short time

Breaking one joint is usually enough; breaking two nearly guarantees the stagger.

    4. Burst Down the Red Core

When the Bastion drops and its internal chamber opens, shift your angle slightly to the machine’s side. This gives a clear view of the red orb-like core located at the center of its chassis.

This is your window to deal massive damage.

    • Heavy ammo does the most burst

    • Keep firing until the Bastion begins to recover

    • Prepare to reposition if it reactivates

Repeat the sequence—disable joint → core exposure → burst—until the unit collapses permanently.

With practice, you can destroy a Bastion in under a minute.

How to Collect Bastion Cells Efficiently

Once the Bastion is down, its parts scatter in a small radius. Loot every piece immediately—some components blend into the terrain.

    How Many Bastion Cells Drop?

A single Bastion typically drops 2–3 Bastion Cells. Since Gear Station upgrades require a notable amount, repeated farming is necessary.

    Use the Safe Pocket

The moment you pick up your first Bastion Cell:

    • Add it to your Safe Pocket

    • All additional Bastion Cells automatically stack

    • This protects them if another player downs you or steals your loot

Never walk around with unprotected upgrade materials.

    Master Bastion Farming

If you’re grinding Gear Station upgrades or want help farming Bastion Cells more reliably, GladiatorBoost’s ARC Raiders Boosting services can accelerate the entire process. Professional boosters can assist with Bastion hunting routes, efficient topside rotations, and loadout optimization so you can secure high-value drops without repeatedly wiping. This is especially helpful for solo Raiders who want smoother progression or players who simply want to experience late-game content faster.
