Why Yao Guang Is Team-Dependent

Yao Guang is not a universal support. She shines when:

• Teamed with Elation DPS characters

• Built with high SPD for faster Ultimate cycles

Her Talent allows allies to trigger additional Elation damage during their attacks. However, that extra damage scales with her stats and triggers more frequently in Skill-heavy rotations.

This makes her exceptional in Elation teams — and only situational outside them.

Yao Guang repeatedly triggers Aha Instants with her Ultimate. Each Aha Instant empowers Sparxie to unleash massive Elation damage. Since Sparxie scales heavily with Elation buffs, Yao Guang effectively acts as her accelerator.

This pairing is currently one of the highest scaling Elation synergies available.

2️⃣ Sparkle Fixes the Skill Point Economy

Sparxie thrives when she can use her Skill consistently. However, Skill-heavy rotations quickly drain resources.

Sparkle solves this by:

• Restoring Skill Points

• Increasing maximum Skill Point capacity

• Providing Crit-related buffs

Without Sparkle, the team risks downtime between Sparxie bursts.

3️⃣ Huohuo Enables Constant Ultimates

Yao Guang’s value spikes when she can use her Ultimate frequently.

Yao Guang’s Talent triggers extra Elation damage whenever allies use their Skills. Characters that repeatedly consume Skill Points benefit most.

Archer

Archer can chain multiple Skill attacks in a row, stacking Yao Guang’s additional Elation damage repeatedly. Instead of one bonus trigger per rotation, Archer can generate multiple procs, significantly increasing total output.

Sparkle

Sparkle remains essential here. Without her Skill Point generation, Archer cannot maintain his attack frequency.

Dan Heng PT

Dan Heng PT is extremely Skill Point–efficient, helping balance the team economy while contributing steady damage.

Can Yao Guang Work Outside Elation?

Technically, yes — but she’s rarely optimal.

Her Ultimate grants Type RES PEN and buffs, which benefit any team. However:

• Non-Elation units trigger fewer Elation procs

• Other Harmony/Nihility supports often provide stronger raw amplification

The only viable non-Elation use case involves fast attackers or follow-up units who attack frequently enough to accumulate multiple Talent procs.

Even then, she’s usually outperformed by specialized buffers.
