Genshin Impact: Solving Secrets on the Wind-Swept Isle – Full Guide to “Time and the Wind” Quest

Genshin Impact is known for its rich worldbuilding, hidden lore, and secret quests scattered throughout Teyvat. One of the more elusive yet rewarding hidden missions is the “Time and the Wind” quest, which takes players beyond the familiar terrain of Mondstadt to a desolate island shrouded in mystery and wind.

This guide will walk you through how to access and complete the Time and the Wind quest step by step, while offering tips to make the journey smoother—even if you’re venturing there for the first time.

Time and the Wind Quest Guide - Genshin Impact

Unlocking the Quest: Reaching the Nameless Island

The first challenge in this quest isn’t combat or puzzles—it’s simply reaching the nameless island east of Mondstadt. You can see the island from Starsnatch Cliff, but getting there requires some creativity and stamina.

Option 1: Glide From Starsnatch Cliff

Gliding is the most efficient method, but you’ll need high stamina and possibly some food buffs. To minimize stamina consumption:

    • Bring two Anemo characters for the Elemental Resonance bonus (-15% stamina use).

    • Use gliding stamina reduction characters like Amber or Venti.

    • Consume dishes such as Barbatos Ratatouille or Minty Meat Rolls before your flight.

    Option 2: Cryo Ice Bridge

For those without enough stamina or the right characters, a slower (but dependable) option is to use a Cryo character (like Kaeya) to build an ice bridge across the water. Just alternate attacks to refresh the ice before it melts and be ready for a long journey.

Step 1: Investigate the Island’s Sundial

Once you reach the island, explore the central ruins and interact with the Ravaged Carving on the ancient sundial. This activates the “Time and the Wind” quest. Paimon will encourage further investigation into the eerie wind energy.

Next, head to the southern shore of the island to find a small campsite. Look for a shovel sticking out of the ground near some breakable stones. Beneath them is the Ragged Notebook, which hints that strange wind activity occurs between 2 AM and 5 AM (in-game time).

Step 2: Disperse the Wind Clusters

Set your in-game clock to between 2:00 and 5:00 AM, then activate Elemental Sight. You’ll spot four wind clusters hidden around the island. Use an Anemo skill (like the Traveler’s) to disperse each one:

    • First Cluster: On top of a tall stone pillar beside the sundial.

    • Second Cluster: On the northeast coast, above a rock behind a Ruin Guard.

    • Third Cluster: Floating over the water on the southeastern edge.

    • Fourth Cluster: Within the ruins, just behind the sundial.

Dispersing all four wind clusters reveals a Deposit of Wind in front of the sundial. Use an Anemo skill to clear it and prepare for battle.

Step 3: Defeat the Eye of the Storm

The newly revealed Eye of the Storm is a wind-based elite boss that floats and evades melee attacks. Bring a bow user like Fischl or Amber to hit it midair, then switch to a strong melee DPS like Diluc or Xiangling once it falls.

Before you can finish the battle, it retreats and flies away. Follow the wind currents it leaves behind. If you lose track, teleport to Temple of the Wolf and travel northeast. You’ll find another sundial guarded by Hilichurls.

Step 4: Repeat the Puzzle and Battle

Defeat the enemies and wait until 2 AM – 5 AM again. Use Elemental Sight to reveal three new wind clusters:

    • Dispersing the first two summons Slimes.

    • The third triggers a rematch with the Eye of the Storm.

Defeat it once and for all, then speak with Henry Morton, an NPC nearby, to finish the quest.

    Quest Rewards

Completing the “Time and the Wind” quest gives:

    • 500 Adventure EXP

    • 60,000 Mora

    • 5 Hero’s Wit

    • 3 Mystic Enhancement Ore

    • 60 Primogems

    • Achievement: “Nothing to Lose But Time”

Not only is it a satisfying bit of storytelling and world-building, but it also gives solid resource rewards—perfect for leveling up characters or weapons.
