Navigating the sprawling, interconnected world of Lords of the Fallen can be both thrilling and overwhelming. Between hidden paths, vertical design, and deadly foes lurking around every corner, even seasoned Soulslike veterans may find themselves disoriented. One such location that has confused many players is the Tower of Penance—a critical area for both progression and certain game endings.

If you’re looking for a clear, no-nonsense walkthrough on how to reach the Tower of Penance, you’ve come to the right place. This guide will take you step-by-step through the route from the Leprosarium, highlight what to watch out for, and prepare you for the challenges ahead.

Why the Tower of Penance Matters

How to get to Tower of Penance in Lords of the Fallen

The Tower of Penance isn’t just another spooky zone to check off your exploration list—it’s a Beacon location, which makes it vital for progressing specific endings in Lords of the Fallen. Whether you’re chasing lore, completion, or cleansing the land, you’ll need to find and reach this isolated structure.

It’s also worth noting that the Tower of Penance doesn’t have a built-in Vestige checkpoint, which means you’ll have to use a Vestige Seedling. Be careful: you can only place one Seedling at a time, and if you’ve placed one elsewhere, it will reset.

Starting Point: Vestige of Brother Jeremiah

Your journey begins at the Vestige of Brother Jeremiah, located in the Hallowed Brothers Leprosarium. Make sure to rest here and manage your inventory, as things are about to get tricky.

    From the Vestige:

    1. Exit the building and look across—enter the structure directly opposite.

    2. If the door is locked, defeat the nearby enemy who holds the key.

    3. Once inside, head upstairs and turn left.

    4. Follow the hallway and turn right at the end.

    5. Take the staircase on the right, ascend, and then turn left.

    6. At the next fork, go left again and continue until the end, then turn right.

Through the Barricades and Into the Courtyard

You’ll soon spot a wooden blockade. Roll through it to access a bridge leading into another building.

    1. Enter the building, move straight, and then turn right.

    2. If this door is locked, take the stairs down to loop around.

    3. Inside, look for the exit on the right—this leads you into an open courtyard.

    4. You’ll see Crusader enemies here—either fight or avoid them.

    5. Head through the wooden archway ahead and ignore the cultists nearby.

    6. Continue forward through the next doorway.

    Approaching the Tower of Penance

Once you exit into the next zone, you’ll spot the Tower of Penance looming in the distance. It’s hard to miss—and it signals that you’re almost there.

Just before reaching the Tower, you’ll come across a Vestige bed, and that’s when things get serious.

Prepare for Battle: Blessed Carrion Knight Sanisho

Guarding the Tower of Penance is a boss fight against Blessed Carrion Knight Sanisho. This is not your standard boss:

    • Phase One: When Sanisho’s health drops to zero, don’t relax—he resurrects immediately.

    • Phase Two: You must quickly continue attacking before he regains control. If you pause, he’ll rise fully powered and the fight continues.

Once you’ve successfully taken him down for good, the Tower is yours to explore.

    Tips Before You Go

    • Bring a Vestige Seedling: Since the area lacks a natural checkpoint, plant one before the boss fight if you’re under-leveled or low on consumables.

    • Manage your gear: Sanisho is relentless and revives mid-fight—prep for a sustained duel, not a sprint.

    • Watch for shortcuts: After defeating Sanisho, look around the Tower for potential shortcuts back to earlier zones or other Beacons.

    Final Thoughts

The Tower of Penance is a critical mid-game location in Lords of the Fallen, not only for its Beacon but for what it symbolizes in your journey. Reaching it demands focus, patience, and a solid understanding of the game’s labyrinthine world. But with this guide, you should be well-prepared to push through the chaos, defeat the guardian, and continue your descent into darkness—or redemption.

    Good luck, Lampbearer—penance awaits.
