How to Unlock the A Brewing Storm Quest

To begin this quest, you must first reach Aburrey Quarry, an early-game area tied closely to resource production and abandoned infrastructure. As you explore the quarry, make your way toward the Stockpile Area, then head north until you find a functioning elevator.

Ride the elevator upward, and you’ll encounter an NPC named Thurston. Simply approaching and speaking with him will automatically register A Brewing Storm into your mission log. This conversation sets the stage for the investigation, hinting at safety failures and mysterious shutdowns within the quarry’s upper facilities.

Step One: Disabling the Outer High-Voltage Fence

Your first task is to enter a restricted section of the quarry sealed behind a high-voltage electric fence. These fences cannot be bypassed directly, so you’ll need to disable the power source.

How to Craft an Industrial Explosive

• Aketine Powder

  • Locate an Aketine plant

  • Set up an infinite plant loop

  • Process it through a Shredder to produce powder

• Amethyst Parts

  • Mine Amethyst Ore

  • Refine it using the Refining and Fitting Unit

Once you have:

• 5 Amethyst Parts

• 1 Aketine Powder

Send them via conveyor belts into a Packaging Unit (the same machine used for batteries). This produces an Industrial Explosive, which can be thrown to destroy barriers or damage certain enemies.

Use the explosive on the inner fence to clear the path forward.

Step Three: Navigating the Floating Crate Platform

Beyond the destroyed barrier, you’ll spot a floating crate suspended in the area. These crates act as movable platforms and environmental tools.

1. Below a ladder near the terminal area

Step Six: Powering Down the Fence and Reporting Back

After collecting the clues, retrace your steps and once again follow the orange power cable to the fence’s energy mechanism. Disable it fully to safely exit the restricted zone.

Return to Thurston and report your findings. After a short dialogue discussing the evidence and implications, the quest concludes.
