🔍 What Are Lost Loot & Lost Capsules

-
Lost Loot Machine: This is a feature in Borderlands 4 that automatically collects (or stores) loot items that you didn’t pick up while exploring. Essentially it helps you salvage items you missed on the ground.
-
Lost Capsules (“Supply Capsules” or “Lost Loot Capsules”): These are collectible items you find during exploration. Once you collect a capsule, you can take it to a Safehouse or Faction Town in the game and use a Decrypt Station (or similar mechanism) to convert it into randomized loot rewards.
⚙ How Lost Loot Machine Works
-
It stores loot drops you missed (items you walked past and didn’t pick up). It does not store items you have already seen, interacted with, dropped from your inventory, or looted.
-
The machine starts with a limited number of slots (six at first). You can expand its capacity by using SDU Tokens.
-
You can access the Lost Loot Machine in major cities or faction locations. One early one you get access to is in the hub “The LaunchPad,” unlocked around a main mission.
-
From the machine’s menu, you can retrieve stored items into your backpack, or trash items you don’t want — freeing up space.
-
The Lost Loot Machine isn’t a guarantee for high-tier weapon drops; it tends to collect mostly lower rarity loot (whites, greens, etc.) unless you miss something better.
🔐 How Lost Capsules Work
-
When you find a Lost Capsule, carry it until you reach a Safehouse or a town with a Decrypt Station.
-
Use the Decrypt Station to “open” or “decrypt” the capsule. Doing this gives you randomized loot — it could be weapon skins, gear, mods, or other useful items.
-
The rewards are random, so having better luck or opening many capsules improves the chance of something rare.
💡 Tips to Get the Most Out of Them
-
Clear out items from your Lost Loot Machine regularly so it has space to pick up new drops.
-
Don’t ignore normal loot drops on the ground — if you manually pick them up, they don’t go into Lost Loot, so sometimes looting is still better.
-
Use SDU Tokens to increase Lost Loot Machine slots (when you have spare tokens) so that you can store more missed loot before needing to clear.
-
When close to town or a Safehouse, open all Lost Capsules you have accumulated to avoid risk of losing them.
-
Keep an eye out for Decrypt Stations whenever exploring — knowing where they are helps you plan so you’re never far from opening capsules.
🌟 Boosting Mention
If you are trying to speed up your gear acquisition and don’t want to rely only on missed loot or random capsule drops, Borderlands 4 Boosting can help. Boosting services can help farm high-chance capsule locations, run Decrypt Stations more often, or help increase drop rates so you get better rewards from Lost Loot / Lost Capsules without extensive grinding.
