Introduction
Introduced as part of the Guardians of the Dream content update, the Battleground Blitz Brawl offers players a new way to engage in PvP action. This 8v8 player battleground experience offers fast-paced gameplay on eight initially available maps, including Warsong Gulch, Twin Peaks, Temple of Kotmogu, Eye of the Storm, Silvershard Mines, Battle for Gilneas, Arathi Basin, and Deepwind Gorge.
*Note: The Battleground Blitz will be active as an available brawl every week from the time of its release the week of November 7.*
Joining the Blitz
Players can join the Battleground Blitz Brawl either solo or as a duo, with the requirement that one player must be a healer. This offers a great opportunity for players who prefer solo play to engage in exciting PvP action.
Team Composition
A typical team in the Battleground Blitz Brawl will consist of 2 healers, 5-6 damage dealers, and 0 to 1 tank. In the case where there is no tank on a team, matches will not occur on any Capture the Flag maps such as Warsong Gulch and Twin Peaks.
Map Mechanics
In the Battleground Blitz Brawl, players will notice some changes to how they interact with the battlegrounds. These changes result in a faster gameplay pace and introduce new mechanics to utilize in the game.
*Note: Some changes include reduced cast time for taking objectives, faster capture times on domination maps, a new Swift Pursuit buff, and new power-up runes.*
Map Modifications
To accommodate the 8v8 format, several modifications have been made to the maps, with significant changes made to Eye of the Storm, Arathi Basin, and Deepwind Gorge.
Cross Faction Queuing
In a move to prioritize quality matches and shorter queues for the brawl, players are now able to queue and join the brawl more quickly, regardless of their faction.
Item Scaling
For the Battleground Blitz Brawl, the item level for equipped gear above 312 will scale to 472, in a similar fashion to how gear scaling currently works for other unranked modes.
*Note: Players must have a minimum item level of 330 to queue for the brawl.*
Rewards
Win or lose, players can expect rewards for participating in a Battleground Blitz Brawl. Rewards include increased Conquest for wins, with Conquest also being awarded for close losses.
New Achievements
In addition to the exciting gameplay, players can also earn several new achievements for participating in the Battleground Blitz Brawl. Achievements range from winning a certain number of matches to completing a certain number of matches.
Final Thoughts
The Battleground Blitz Brawl is an exciting addition to the WoW PvP scene. With fast-paced gameplay, new map mechanics, and the opportunity to earn rewards and achievements, it offers something for every player. So, gear up and get ready to join the Blitz!
